Glandless and Seatless Pinch Valve

pinch valves are ideal solutions where shut-off and control applications involve abrasive or corrosive slurries, powders or coarse substances. Apart from the normal hand wheel operated pinch valves, there can be number of design variations as Woodland pinch valve series enables the selection of any electrical, hydraulic or electrical actuator, elastomer sleeve material to fit specific process conditions.
The operating principle of a pinch valve is simple. In the open position, the valve is at full bore with no flow restrictions thus making the valve an integral part of the pipeline. During closing, two pinch bars squeeze the rubber sleeve shut on the centerline. Pinch valves thus provide a 100% tight shut-off.
The main components of pinch valves are: the rubber sleeve, the body and the actuator (manual hand wheel, pneumatic, hydraulic and electric). The rubber sleeve is the only part that is in contact with the process medium. The construction and materials of all three main components can be tailored to suit most process conditions. Self-cleaning pinch valves provide leak tight shut-off even if solids have built up on the sleeve wall. When compressed, any crystallized particles flake off the sleeve surface and are washed downstream.
